About the ASO Biology program

The study of biology is today more dynamic than it ever has been. Biotechnology, genetic engineering and recombinant DNA are terms that are certain to gain an ever-increasing profile in issues facing the broader community. Environmental impact and sustainability, ecology and taxonomy are terms also fundamental to biology. The ASO Biology Program includes all of the topics behind these terms and much more.

The 2009 Biology Summer School will be held at Monash University, Clayton campus in Melbourne. Team Training takes place in April for one week and again for about one week prior to the International Biology Olympiad, at a location with a climate and time zone similar to that of the competition.

Understanding the fundamental concepts, interactions and relevance of a wide range of biology topics is at the heart of the program.

The ASO uses the following text for the Biology Program: Biology, 6th Edition, Neil Campbell and Jane Reece.
