The International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) is a competition for students under the age of twenty and not at university. Originating in Europe the competition draws teams from all over the world to compete in examinations which are of a standard between those found in first and second year university courses in Australia.

The first International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) took place between teams from Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland and Romania in Warsaw, Poland in 1967.
